12 year old Lane Hinckley was granted “exceptional player” status by Hockey New Brunswick this past spring. The Lutes Mountain resident, living near Moncton NB then decided to play with the Moncton Hawks in the New Brunswick AAA Bantam Hockey League rather return for a 2nd year of Pee Wee. His father, Dave is the head coach of the Hawks and travelled with his team to Halifax for the 2016 Esso Cup, a major bantam tournament featuring the best teams from across the maritimes. The Hawks had a successflu tourney, losing 4-2 in the semi final to their New Brunswick rivals, the Dieppe Flyers but Hinkley had 2 assists in the game. John Moore caught up with coach and son after their final game at the Forum on Sunday afternoon. Interesting to note, Hinkley grew up in Cheticamp, Nova Scotia and moved to New Brunswick at 6 years of age.
