Brett Budgell is a 16 year old rookie with the Charlottetown Islanders of the QMJHL. The St John’s Nfld native was selected in the 2nd round of the 2017 summer draft in Saint John NB and decided to play with the Chicago Steel of the USHL til Christmas. He has joined the Islanders for the 2nd half and haveing a strong start with 6 points in 9 games. Islanders coach and GM Jim Hulton doesn’t necessarily think Budgell will become a top end goal scorer but sees him as a future team captain. John Moore caught up with Budgell and Hulton earlier this month prior to an Islanders game with the Mooseheads at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax.
