Cape Breton West equipment manager Daniel MacDonald was on an emotional high when the Islanders captured Atlantic Canada’s first ever Telus Cup Sunday in Prince George BC. The Islanders rallied for a 5-4 OT win over Qyebec champs despite trailing 4-2 with 8 minutes left in 3rd period. MacDonald has been the team’s equipment manager for the past 10 years and is well respected by the players, coaching staff and residents of the Port Hood area and surrounding area. It was a very emotional week for MacDonald as his uncle passed away before the Telus Cup playoff round began. MacDonald dedicated the win to his uncle. John Moore caught up with MacDonald just after the team arrived at Halifax’s Robert Stanfield Airport.
