Jake Martin suffered a serious leg injury during the 2016/17 season with the Pictou Crushers of the Maritime Junior Hockey League. It wiped out the 2nd half of his season and now the 2016 7th round draft pick of the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles is trying to crack the team’s lineup for the 2017/18 season. The New Glasgow forward almost made the team last year as a 16 year old and Coach Marc Andre Dumont says he is definitely in the mix again despite breaking his leg near his growth plate.
