Mooseheads defenceman Jordan LePage came to the defence of his 16 year old rookie teammate, Raphael Lavoie after he went crashing head first into the end boards Friday in QMJHL action at Centre 200. Eagles forward Peyton Hoyt was given a 5 minute major for the hit on Lavoie who lay motionless on the ice for almost a minute after the hit. LePage came immediately to his aid and fought with Hoyt. Mooseheads 5 foot 7 goalie Blade Mann-Dixon even left his crease to make sure Cape Breton 6 foot 3 Dman Alexis Sansfacon didn’t enter the fray. Sansfacon was handed a 10 minute misconduct. Video of the hit is not available but watch the fight and keep an eye out for Mann-Dixon in the far right of the screen. Lavoie left the game but did return midway through the 3rd. The teams face off again Saturday in Game 2 of the Hurley Cup.
