Wade Smith is the 2017 Sport Nova Scotia Chairs Award recipient. The Halifax native was unable to attend the annual awards night as he battles terminal stomach cancer but his sons Jaydan and Jaxon were on stage to receive the award and the oldest of Mark’s two sons, Jaydan spoke to the soldout crowd at the World Trade Centre. The 50 year old Smith, principal at Citadel High School in Halifax was former star basketball player at St F.X.and has left a remarkable legacy in Nova Scotia. He was named head coach of the Nova Scotia boys basketball Canada Summer Games team and still hopes to attend the 2 week competition in Winnipeg in August.
